"STAR WARS AND THE WIZARD OF OZ"
For a long time I have noticed so many parallels to these two movies that I felt compelled to write about it.
What is the theme in Star Wars? The theme is despite all obstacles, a girl reaches her far away destination with the help of a man as well as an entourage of others albeit some strange others. And what is the theme of
The Wizard of Oz? The theme is despite all obstacles, a girl reaches her far away destination [home as with above,] with the help of an entourage of four men. In both movies, there are armies: In Star Wars it is a group of men dressed in white outfits and helmets, the storm troopers, while in the Wizard of Oz, the army is the flying monkeys--way too many flying monkeys if you were to ask me.
Both movies contain the EVIL element, the damsel in distress, a knight in shining armor or several as in the Wizard of Oz, a dire need to get home by some path other than the normal one---space ships or a tornado, which turned out to be Dorothy's dream and a happy ending. Both movies also contain magic: Obi Wan Kanobi in Star Wars and the wizard and witches in The Wizard of Oz.
The characteristics of those who helped out in Star Wars resemble the same ones as in The Wizard of Oz. Just stop and think how different these characters were from the norm in both movies for they were not your average people to say the least.
Both Princess Leia and Dorothy were victims of others doings and both were affected by an evil person or persons. And yet both arrived home safely thanks to others doings.
If like me, you see the parallels with these two movies, perhaps you can take this blog post farther for there are many many more similarities. Nonetheless, both movies will go down in history as not only favorite ones but blockbuster ones. And yet, there are both so much alike that it is more than obvious--if you stop and think about them.
Dare you to compare!
